Malaysia's Kuching LNG Terminal Sees First Gas Target Set for End-2029
Höegh Evi and PETROS have partnered to develop an LNG import terminal in Kuching, Malaysia. The project aims to provide a natural gas supply for power generation in the region and is part of the Kuching Low-Carbon development. The terminal will comprise a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), mooring infrastructure, subsea and onshore pipelines, and onshore receiving facilities.
The partners are targeting first gas by the end of 2029 and are also assessing opportunities to accelerate delivery in response to growing demand. Additionally, the terminal will offer services such as small-scale LNG distribution, truck loading, LNG bunkering, storage, and reloading.
Höegh Evi's CEO, Erik Nyheim, stated that the company is proud to work with PETROS as development partners, highlighting their proven track record in delivering floating LNG infrastructure projects. The companies also plan to explore knowledge sharing, training, and skills development as part of the project.
