Malaysia's PPI Local Production Rises 10.7% in August Driven by Mining Sector

Malaysia's Producer Price Index (PPI) local production rose by 10.7% in August 2026, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). This increase was driven by the mining sector, which jumped by 41.2% in August 2026, up from 30.5% in July 2026.

The extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas rose by 49.8% and 14.7%, respectively, contributing to the significant growth in the mining sector.

The manufacturing sector also saw an increase of 8.8%, mainly driven by the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (33.5%) and computer, electronic and optical products (12.4%).
