The Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO has reached peak production at 180,000 barrels of oil per day in Brazil's Mero field. The FPSO is one of five installed in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin and is chartered from SBM Offshore.

Mero is the third largest producing field in Brazil, with an average production of approximately 740 mbpd in the second quarter of 2026. Petrobras' Exploration and Production Director Sylvia Anjos said that the top of the Alexandre de Gusmão unit shows that the company is on a firm path of increasing operational efficiency.

The Mero field features the world's largest seismic monitoring project, PRM (Permanent Reservoir Monitoring), which includes an extensive network of sensors and optical instruments. This infrastructure aims to improve production management and maximize oil recovery from the reservoirs.
