Middle East Tensions Send European Markets Lower Amid Rising Oil Prices
European stock markets took a hit on September 9, as tensions in the Middle East drove oil prices higher. The Euro was down against the US Dollar, and major indexes such as the UKX and DAX were also lower. Germany's DAX index fell by 0.41%, while France's CAC index dropped by 0.52%. Industrial production in France declined by 0.4% month-over-month in July.
However, some European countries saw growth in their industrial production. Slovakia reported a 2.4% year-on-year increase in July, while Romania's trade deficit widened to €2.822 billion in the same month.
