Oil prices have surged past $100 per barrel as tensions in the Middle East escalate. Brent crude rose 2.57% to $100.40 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed 2.10% to $94.98.

The increase follows a series of attacks on oil facilities and tankers in the region, including five Iranian tankers that were struck by the US military after attempted missile attacks on a Navy warship.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that Washington would continue striking Iranian oil tankers if Tehran carried out further attacks on US warships.
