MidOcean Energy Joins Phase 2 of LNG Canada Project
MidOcean Energy, an LNG company formed and managed by EIG, has announced its participation in Phase 2 of the LNG Canada project. This follows the Final Investment Decision (FID) made by the joint venture partners on September 29, 2026.
The company's involvement in Phase 2 comes after it acquired a 20% interest in the North Montney Upstream Joint Venture and a 20% interest in the North Montney LNG Limited Partnership in December 2025. This partnership with PETRONAS will increase MidOcean's associated LNG volumes from 0.7 mtpa to 1.4 mtpa.
Phase 2 of the project involves adding two liquefaction trains at the facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, increasing production capacity from 14 mtpa to 28 mtpa. This expansion will provide access to Canadian natural gas resources and competitive shipping routes to key Asian markets.
