Midwest Fuel Prices Soar Amid Escalating Mideast Tensions

Fuel prices in Iowa skyrocketed this week as tensions between Iran and the US escalate in the Middle East. According to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state is now $3.80, up 12 cents from last week's prices.

This surge brings the current national average to $4.06 per gallon, an increase of 17 cents. The Iowa diesel market experienced an even more pronounced rise, with a 32-cent jump to $4.85 per gallon. This is $1.28 higher than last year's prices and has contributed significantly to the national average increase.

The Des Moines terminal saw E10 priced at $1.99, Unleaded 87 at $3.53, ULSD#2 at $3.89, ULSD#1 at $4.11, and E70 at $2.41. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site remained steady at $2.91 per MMBtu.
