Mixed Performance in Metals Markets as Base Metals Decline

Metals markets showed mixed performance on September 30, according to the Shanghai Metals Market's midday review. Base metals were nearly all lower, with SHFE copper rising 0.21%, while SHFE aluminum fell 0.35%. The most-traded cast aluminum futures contract fell 0.11%, and the most-traded alumina contract rose 2.07%.

Ferrous metals were mostly higher, with iron ore rising 0.93%, rebar up 0.29%, and HRC increasing 0.12%. Coking coal was flat, while coke rose 1.08%. In overseas base metals, LME copper increased 0.18%, and LME aluminum edged up 0.09%.

Precious metals were also higher, with COMEX gold rising 0.77% and COMEX silver increasing 0.56%. The most-traded platinum futures contract rose 0.87%, and the most-traded palladium futures contract increased 1.24%.
