Munir's Oil Deal Halts Iranian Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir allegedly used a joint oil transportation venture with Iranian military commander Ahmad Vahidi to broker an agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, halting attacks on the Gulf kingdom.
The reported understanding was reached in late March during the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. According to unnamed officials, Saudi Arabia had faced repeated Iranian missile attacks but stopped after the agreement was finalized.
Munir used the joint venture as leverage, warning Vahidi that continued attacks could jeopardize the future of the oil transportation business.
