Nepal Oil Corporation Defends LP Gas Prices Amid Consumer Complaints

Nepal Oil Corporation Executive Director Nagendra Sahi has responded to complaints about LP gas prices, stating that they are still relatively affordable compared to other consumer goods. Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (SEJON), Sahi emphasized the importance of prioritizing ease of supply over price due to the dependence on imports.

When comparing prices, Sahi pointed out that one kilogram of meat costs between 1700 to 1800 rupees and is consumed within a day, whereas a cylinder of gas costing around 2100 rupees lasts for two months. He urged consumers to consider this practical perspective.

Sahi acknowledged the challenges faced by the corporation in maintaining supply due to floods and landslides but assured that maximum efforts are being made to ease the supply while keeping consumer interests in mind.
