Nikkei Gains 1% on Wall Street Boost and Lower Oil Prices
Japan’s Nikkei index posted solid gains on Tuesday, driven by positive cues from Wall Street and a drop in crude oil prices. The market extended its rally in the afternoon as investor appetite for the 10-year Japanese government bond improved, easing worries about the debt market.
The Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.1% to close the morning session at 70,683.98, while the broader Topix index added 0.9% to reach 4,183.56. Among the Nikkei’s components, 165 stocks advanced, 55 declined, and three remained unchanged.
US markets had a strong overnight performance, with all three major indexes rising. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite hit a record high, fueled by gains in companies like Nvidia. In Japan, tech stocks showed mixed results, with Advantest surging 3.9% and Fujikura jumping 5.2%, while SoftBank Group fell 3.1%, the worst performer of the day.
