NNPC, Ogun Revive OKLNG Talks Amid Coastal Development Plans
The Olokola Liquefied Natural Gas (OKLNG) project has been at the center of discussions between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and the Ogun State government.
According to reports, NNPC is reviewing the challenges that have stalled the long-delayed OKLNG project, which was originally conceived in the mid-2000s as a major LNG export development.
The proposed OKLNG site requires approximately 1,728 hectares and 2.5 kilometers of Atlantic coastline, according to NNPC.
Meanwhile, Ogun State is developing a major coastal industrial corridor anchored by the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, which has an investment framework of more than $7 billion and is expected to create over 50,000 direct jobs when fully developed.
