North Dakota Oil Production Soars Amid US-Iran Conflict
North Dakota's oil production continues to rise as the US-Iran conflict pushes crude oil prices higher. The state relies heavily on oil and gas taxes for revenue, which has led to a rosier financial picture.
Gunther Harms of the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources' oil and gas division reported that the state produced 35.85 million barrels of oil in July, an increase from June's production. This represents an average of 1.156 million barrels per day, which is 5.15% above the revenue forecast.
The national average for gas prices has risen to $4.47 a gallon, with North Dakotans paying an average of $4.23 a gallon and Minnesotans paying an average of $4.39 a gallon. The North Dakota market oil price for July was $75.56 a barrel, which is 32.6% above the revenue forecast.
The state has also seen a record number of producing oil wells, with 20,072 wells in operation in July, up from 111 more than the previous month.
