Nurses Back Victoria Council's Pipeline Opposition as Residents Offer Innovative Solutions

Nurses from the B.C. Chapter of the Canadian Association of Nurses for the Environment have expressed their support for Victoria city council's motion opposing the development of a proposed oil pipeline connecting Alberta to Delta.

The nurses, who witnessed firsthand the health impacts of climate change, emphasized that climate change is driven by the extraction, transportation, and combustion of fossil fuels. They noted that municipalities are responsible for decisions that influence greenhouse gas emissions and commended Victoria council's leadership in advocating for a healthier and more sustainable future.

Meanwhile, residents have been weighing in on various topics, including road safety, trade agreements, and climate change. Some have suggested using paint with photoluminescent properties to make traffic divider lines more visible at night, while others believe that making public transit free could help reduce emissions.
