Ohio Gas Prices Skyrocket to Record High Amid Global Oil Uncertainty
Record-high gas prices have been reported in Ohio this August, with the average price per gallon of regular gas reaching $4.17, according to AAA. This is the most expensive August on record for the state.
The uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz has contributed to the increase in crude oil prices, which in turn has driven up prices at the pump, said AAA. As a result, businesses that rely heavily on fuel are feeling the pinch.
Tyler Mobley, owner of JT's Tree Services LLC from Xenia, expressed surprise at the rapid rise in gas prices, stating 'It rose so fast.' His company burns approximately 300 gallons of diesel per day and is struggling to absorb the increased cost into their quotes.
Airlines are also being severely impacted by the price hike. According to Jared Pincin, an economics professor at Cedarville University, airlines may need to adjust ticket prices to reflect the higher input costs. 'A ticket that they sold a month ago or two ago might not be the same price as what they'd want to charge now because their input costs have gone up,' he explained.
