Oil Prices Drop Nearly 2 Percent as G7 and Middle East Boost Supplies
Oil prices closed lower on Thursday, October 5, as markets reacted to rising crude exports from the Middle East and a commitment from the G7 to increase supply. Brent crude, the global benchmark, dropped by USD 1.93, or 1.89%, to settle at USD 100.32 per barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell USD 1.68, or 1.84%, ending the day at USD 89.43 per barrel.
The decline came amid reports of higher crude exports from Middle Eastern producers, adding more supply to an already well-supplied market. Additionally, the G7 nations reaffirmed their plans to boost oil market supplies, further weighing on prices.
Traders and analysts will be watching closely to see if this downward trend continues or if other factors, such as geopolitical tensions or changes in demand, could reverse the movement in the coming days.
