Oil Prices Plummet Amid Ongoing Iran Tensions
Oil prices fell on Friday as crude markets remained under pressure due to ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. The Brent crude futures price dropped by $0.60, or 0.67%, to $89.10 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined by $0.64, or 0.77%, to $82.89.
Despite the decline, analysts noted that oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz were showing signs of recovery. Producers were adjusting to the conflict and becoming more comfortable moving oil through the strategic waterway, with Goldman Sachs estimating Gulf exports at around 15 million to 16 million barrels per day.
The US administration's stance on reviving an earlier agreement with Iran has faced fresh difficulties, with Washington reportedly telling mediators that it did not want to revive the deal. The United States has also imposed its toughest sanctions on Iran, which Tehran condemned as hostile and ineffective.
