Oil Prices Plummet as Iran Negotiation Hopes Lift Pressure
Crude oil prices have been fluctuating wildly due to diplomatic signals emerging from Pakistan's mediation efforts in the Iran negotiations.
The price of Brent crude fell by $3.39, or 3.68%, to $88.78 per barrel, while WTI crude dropped by $2.73, or 3.21%, to $82.28 per barrel.
The decline in prices is due to the forward-pricing dynamic, where traders collectively believe what will happen tomorrow, rather than just what's happening today.
This means that prices can move sharply on signals alone, long before any policy change or sanctions agreement is formally confirmed.
