Oil Prices Plummet as Trump Postpones Iran Attack
Oil prices dropped on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump announced he had put off a planned attack on Iran, allowing for negotiations to end the war in the Middle East.
The decision came as part of ongoing efforts to reach a deal between the two nations. Trump posted on social media that he was holding off a military strike while talks continued, stating that the US would resume attacking if a deal is not reached.
Brent futures for July fell $1.73, or 1.5%, to $110.37 a barrel at 0825 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery slipped 63 cents, or 0.60%, to $108.03.
