Oil prices rebounded by 1.5% on Tuesday in Asian trading as market participants weighed the prospect of talks between the United States and Iran on the margins of this week's United Nations General Assembly.

The gains followed a sharp pullback in the prior session, with Brent crude futures for November delivery up at $101.82 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate futures for October also 1.5% higher at $97.22 a barrel.

President Donald Trump has indicated he would be willing to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is expected to travel to New York for the U.N. General Assembly.
