Oil Prices Slide Below $100 Amid Diplomacy Hopes and Recovering Saudi Exports
Oil prices have declined below $100 per barrel as renewed hopes for diplomacy in Iran and a recovery in Saudi exports led traders to reduce their geopolitical risk premium.
The October contract of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil fell to approximately $98.34 per barrel, down 1.95% from Friday's settlement price, while the November contract was trading at around $94.16.
The decline in oil prices is attributed to several factors, including the possibility of renewed diplomacy between the US and Iran at this week's United Nations General Assembly, as well as a significant recovery in Saudi exports, which have climbed above 4 million barrels per day in September after falling to 2.4 million bpd in August.
Despite these developments, market risks remain, including ongoing tensions with Iran and the potential for further disruptions to global supply chains.
