Oil Prices Surge as Geopolitical Tensions Reach Boiling Point
Oil prices continued their upward trend on Wednesday, reaching their highest levels since July 31 as geopolitical tensions escalated in the Middle East and Asia.
The U.S. crude price rose 0.61% to $83.71 a barrel, while Brent crude gained 0.62% to $89.46, extending its rally to a sixth consecutive session.
The increase in oil prices is largely attributed to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, with continued attacks on shipping and lack of progress in negotiations keeping the outlook for oil prices tilted higher.
The market remains concerned that prolonged disruption around the Strait of Hormuz could further affect energy supplies and shipping.
