Oil Tanker Explosion Rocks Strait of Hormuz Amid Trump's Diplomatic Shift
A massive oil tanker exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a mine, according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency. The vessel was reportedly struck while deviating from its designated route.
The incident comes as US President Donald Trump has paused airstrikes against Iran, opting for diplomatic negotiations instead. Trump's ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, stated that the President is giving talks 'a little bit of room' to continue.
Iran had been under attack by US forces since February, with Washington citing reasons such as toppling the country's government and preventing nuclear development. However, Iran has consistently maintained its nuclear enrichment was for civilian purposes.
