A recent video circulating on social media claims to show the U.S. Navy striking an Iranian oil tanker near Kharg Island, following recent attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saudi oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

Misbar's team at Al-Araby TV investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The video actually dates back to March 2026 and does not show the recent U.S. strike on an Iranian oil tanker near Kharg Island.

The video was first published on March 1, 2026, by media outlets that reported it showed an Iranian attack on an oil tanker as it was sailing through the Strait of Hormuz near the Omani coast.
