Oil prices are rising on global energy markets due to attacks on shipping vessels and infrastructure in the Middle East, leading to an increase in Ontario's gasoline and diesel prices.

According to Dan McTeague of Canadians for Affordable Energy, gas prices will rise by one cent per litre on Thursday, with regular-grade gasoline reaching 187.9 cents per litre in the GTA come Thursday morning.

Diesel prices are also expected to increase, rising by one cent per litre on Thursday, putting diesel prices at 237.9 cents per litre in the GTA on Thursday morning.

The good news for Ontario motorists is that gas prices are only increasing marginally despite recent dramatic increases to oil prices.
