ORLEN and Naftogaz Deepen Strategic Co-operation with New MoU
Poland's ORLEN and Ukraine's Naftogaz Group have strengthened their strategic co-operation by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop joint activities in LNG product supplies, diversify supply routes, and support energy stability in Ukraine and the wider region.
The MoU was signed during the Carpathian Eight Summit. Under the agreement, ORLEN and Naftogaz will explore the potential supply of three LNG cargoes in 1Q27. This would be part of ORLEN's further development of its LNG trading activities and strengthening its role as a reliable supplier in regional markets.
ORLEN CEO Ireneusz Fafara noted that co-operation with Ukraine is an important part of his company's commitment to energy security in Central and Eastern Europe. He stated, “Co-operation with Ukraine is an important part of ORLEN’s commitment to energy security in Central and Eastern Europe. Strengthening our partnership with Naftogaz helps create more opportunities to diversify supplies and improve the resilience of the region’s energy system.”
Naftogaz Acting CEO Sergii Fedorenko commented on the importance of having reliable sources of gas supply, especially given ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian domestic production facilities. He stated, “ORLEN is an important strategic partner for Naftogaz. Amid ongoing Russian attacks on our domestic production facilities, it is particularly important for us to have reliable sources of gas supply and diversified delivery routes.”
