Pakistan Hikes Petrol Price Amid US-Iran Tensions Drive Oil Prices Higher
Pakistan's Energy Ministry has announced an increase in petrol prices by Rs12.9 per liter, effective from September 8th.
The hike is attributed to rising global oil prices due to tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East.
Brent crude futures climbed 79 cents to $97.07 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was at $92.28 a barrel, up 80 cents.
The price of petrol will now be Rs358.77 per liter ($1.29), and high-speed diesel (HSD) will cost Rs381.77 per liter ($1.38).
