Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called on his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies and safe passage of ships through crucial waterways in the Middle East. The conversation, held via telephone, comes amid growing concerns over disruptions to oil supply routes due to escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb.

The Strait of Hormuz links the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, while Bab al-Mandeb connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. The two ministers agreed to maintain close cooperation and meet in New York City next week on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

The conversation highlights the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in ensuring peace and stability in the region, particularly for developing countries and global supply chains. The issue has been further complicated by the United States-Iran war, which began on February 28.
