Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has partnered with Canadian firm Synergetic Oil Tools Inc. to boost heavy crude oil production in Pakistan.

The agreement was signed at OGDC's headquarters in Islamabad, with Canadian High Commissioner Tarik Ali Khan and OGDC MD/CEO Ahmed Hayat Lak in attendance.

Under the deal, Synergetic will deploy its Passive Energy Tool technology across OGDC's heavy oil wells to optimize output. This technology is designed to improve flow assurance in highly viscous crude oil wells by fine-tuning fluid characteristics.

OGDC MD/CEO Ahmed Hayat Lak said the partnership reflected the company's commitment to adopting innovative technologies to tackle production challenges in heavy oil reservoirs.
