The Regina Pats started their two-game Alberta road trip on the wrong foot as they fell 5-1 to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place.

Kayden Stroeder led the charge for Edmonton with a hat-trick, while Parker Snell made 29 saves in his first win of the season. Drake Mooney took the loss for Regina, stopping 23 of 28 shots in his first WHL start.

The Oil Kings opened the scoring late in the first period when Jonas Vanicek set up Josh Lee on a two-on-one, with Lee beating Mooney to make it 1-0. Edmonton added three goals in the second period to take a commanding lead.

Regina finally got on the board on the power play at 14:47 of the second period when Keets Fawcett buried the rebound after Liam Pue's point shot was stopped by Snell. However, Stroeder completed his hat-trick in the third period to seal the win for Edmonton.
