Permian Basin Dominance: Energy Secretary Touts Region's Record Output

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright recently visited Midland as part of the federal 'Great American Energy Comeback Tour.' The trip highlighted the Permian Basin's growing importance in U.S. oil and gas production, with Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX-11) stating that America runs on the Permian Basin.

The region now produces over 6.5 million barrels of oil per day, up from just 900,000 in 2010. This represents nearly half of all U.S. domestic oil production and is expected to reach 50% by 2027.

Wright's visit also focused on refining capacity and LNG exports. The Permian Basin now produces an average of 28 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, up from 4.5 billion in 2010.
