Petrobras Locks in 22-Year LNG Supply Deal with Cheniere

Petrobras, Brazil's state-run energy giant, has secured a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Cheniere, a major U.S. LNG exporter.

The agreement, signed on September 30, 2026, will see Petrobras purchase 0.8 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Cheniere over the next 22 years.

The move is intended to help reduce Petrobras' exposure to volatility in the LNG spot market and provide greater flexibility and security in meeting contractual commitments.

Cheniere operates several major LNG terminals, including Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi in Louisiana and Texas, which have a combined production capacity of around 56 million tonnes per annum.
