PipeChina's Horgos Compressor Station Hits Gas Milestone
PipeChina's Horgos Compressor Station has reached a significant milestone in China's west-to-east gas transmission project. The facility, which began operations in 2009, has delivered over 600 billion cubic meters of natural gas, making it the first station to achieve this feat in Asia. With an annual transmission capacity of 60 bcm, Horgos ranks first in Asia for installed capacity per station.
The compressor station's impressive performance is due in part to its advanced technology, including a full-chain intelligent operation and maintenance system. This integrated system incorporates smart equipment such as cloud-based laser methane detectors, machine vision artificial intelligence analysis, and intelligent compressor diagnostic systems. As a result, the station has transitioned from manual inspections to smart management and control.
Furthermore, Horgos has implemented a waste heat power generation project, utilizing waste heat from gas-turbine-driven compressor units to produce electricity. This initiative has achieved zero direct emissions from the station's units, generating an average of over 65 million kilowatt-hours per year.
