Qatar Extends LNG Force Majeure Amid Ongoing Gulf Disruptions
Qatar has extended its force majeure declaration on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies bound for Asia and Europe by another month due to ongoing disruptions in energy logistics in the Gulf region.
The move, announced by QatarEnergy, affects Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Italian energy company Edison. LNG shipment cancellations will continue through November.
This is not the first time Qatar has updated customers on the force majeure situation. Since the outbreak of the war with Iran, QatarEnergy has been cancelling scheduled deliveries roughly once a month.
Total transport volumes through the Strait of Hormuz remain significantly below pre-war levels. Iran has maintained a hardline stance on reopening the Strait, and US President Donald Trump's willingness to reach an agreement is unclear.
