Qatar Sees LNG Recovery Within Weeks if Strait Reopens

Qatar's Energy Minister, HE Eng. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, stated that if the Strait of Hormuz reopens, the country could return to normal LNG capabilities within a couple of weeks.

This prediction comes after QatarEnergy estimated that damage caused by missile strikes in March would cost $20 billion annually and take up to five years to repair. The attacks damaged two liquefied natural gas (LNG) producing trains, totaling 12.8 million tons per annum (MTPA), representing approximately 17% of Qatar's exports.

The minister was responding to a question at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York about how quickly Qatar could recover from disruptions caused by the Strait of Hormuz closure.
