QatarEnergy has informed Italian utility Edison that it will extend its force majeure suspension period on liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries until early November. This means that five scheduled LNG cargoes between the end of September and beginning of November will not be delivered. The total number of canceled cargoes now stands at 29, with the issue dating back to April due to disruptions caused by the U.S.-Iran conflict.

Edison holds a long-term contract with QatarEnergy for the supply of 6.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Italy, around 10% of the country's total consumption. The contract, which has been in force since 2009, has a total duration of 25 years.

Edison stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
