Qatari LNG Tankers Defy Conflict to Transit Hormuz

Despite ongoing conflict in the region, liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers linked to Qatar have begun transiting the Strait of Hormuz once again. According to Kpler data, no visible transits by Qatar-linked LNG vessels or those carrying cargoes from the Ras Laffan gas terminal were seen in August amid fears of attack by Iran.

However, this month has seen a resurgence in visible transits, with several Qatari-linked LNG vessels making their way through the strait. The GasLog Skagen was the latest vessel to reappear outside the strait on September 27, carrying a cargo from Ras Laffan.

Other Qatari-linked vessels that have also made it through the strait include Al Shamal, Mesaimeer, and Al Ghashamiya. These vessels were all seen inside the Persian Gulf from the start of the war and had been ferrying cargoes to various destinations in the region.
