Questerre Energy Corporation has won the first bid round for exploration rights in Nova Scotia under the province's Subsurface Energy Research and Development Investment Program. The company will negotiate a Petroleum Exploration Agreement with the province, which will provide Questerre with exclusive exploration rights in the onshore Cumberland Basin of northern Nova Scotia.

The basin is considered prospective for oil and gas in multiple formations, and Questerre believes it has the subsurface expertise to evaluate this frontier basin. Michael Binnion, President and CEO of Questerre, said that winning the bid allows the company to start building relationships with local communities, landowners, and research partners such as Dalhousie University.

Questerre is committed to being transparent and respectful of public concerns regarding energy development. The company holds a significant natural gas discovery in the Quebec Utica shale and believes that society can successfully transition its energy portfolio through innovation and responsible production practices.
