Rockhopper Defies Argentine Threats Over Falklands Oil Project
A British oil exploration company has pushed back against threats from Argentina's government to sanction its offshore project near the Falkland Islands.
The Sea Lion project, operated by Rockhopper and Navitas, aims to extract oil north of the Falklands and is expected to start delivering in 2028. The oil field is believed to contain around 900 barrels of oil.
Argentina's President Javier Milei said he would sign decrees to introduce sanctions against companies working on oil production in the area, calling it a 'clear and present danger' to the country's claims.
