Rupee Extends Winning Streak to Four Sessions Amid Soft Dollar
The Indian Rupee gained for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, rising by 5 paise to trade at 95.77 against the US Dollar. The currency received support from a softer dollar and lower crude oil prices.
Market participants tracked movements in the dollar index, which fell by 0.12% to 101.14. They were also watching crude oil prices, with Brent futures trading lower at $87.68 per barrel.
The Rupee drew strength from improved sentiment in domestic equities, as foreign institutional investors turned buyers of Indian stocks. The Sensex and Nifty indexes both rose significantly, with the Sensex up 682.57 points to 77,448.49 and the Nifty up 186.85 points to 24,172.20.
