Rupiah Weakens Against Dollar Amid Oil Price Surge and Fed Rate Hike Expectations
The Indonesian rupiah weakened against the US dollar on Monday, falling 3 points or 0.02 percent to Rp17,614 per dollar from the previous closing of Rp17,611.
Bank Woori analyst Saudara Rully Nova attributed the pressure on the rupiah to several factors, including the weakening of most regional currencies and rising oil prices.
Rully predicted that the rupiah would weaken further in today's trade, potentially falling within the range of Rp17,600-Rp17,680.
