Russia Gas Output Rebounds with 3.4% Year-Over-Year Increase

Russia's gas production has rebounded after a contraction in 2025, according to data from federal statistics service Rosstat. In the first eight months of 2026, Russia produced 446.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, a 3.4 percent increase year-over-year.

Natural gas output for January-August climbed 3.8 percent to 379 bcm, while August production alone stood at 41.3 bcm, representing a 1.1 percent rise from the same month a year earlier and a 4.5 percent gain compared with July.

Liquefied natural gas showed stronger momentum, with output rising 13.7 percent year-on-year to 23.1 million tonnes over the eight-month period. August LNG production reached 2.5 million tonnes, up 29.7 percent from August 2025.
