San Diego Gas Prices Soar Close to All-Time High

The average price of gasoline in San Diego County has been rising steadily over the past few weeks. According to recent figures from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price per gallon of self-serve regular gasoline increased by 4.5 cents on Friday to $6.371, its highest amount since October 7, 2022.

This marks the 38th time in the past 39 days that gas prices have risen, with an overall increase of 68.9 cents. The average price is now just 6.3 cents shy of breaking the record set on October 5, 2022, at $6.434.

The national average price has also seen a slight decrease to $4.487 after two consecutive increases totaling 1.7 cents. However, it remains higher than its levels one week ago, one month ago, and one year ago.

Experts attribute the rising gas prices to lingering volatility in the Strait of Hormuz and high crude oil costs, which typically would not be expected at this time of year.
