Sanjay Kumar Named Petronet LNG CEO as India Eyes Gas Expansion
Petronet LNG Ltd has appointed Sanjay Kumar as its new CEO, effective May 13, 2027. Kumar will serve a five-year term and brings over 35 years of experience in the natural gas and LNG sector to the role.
Kumar is currently the Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India) Ltd, a position he has held since mid-June 2023. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur and an MBA. As CEO of Petronet LNG, Kumar will oversee India's largest gas importer, which operates major LNG terminals at Dahej and Kochi.
Petronet LNG is crucial for India's energy mix and infrastructure, handling 74% of the country's LNG imports and accounting for around 34% of its gas supplies. The company currently has 27.5 million tonnes a year (MMTPA) of regasification capacity, comprising 22.5 MMTPA at Dahej and 5 MMTPA at Kochi.
