Saudi Arabia Intercepts Ballistic Missiles Fired by Houthi Rebels in Yemen
Saudi Arabia intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Thursday, thwarting attacks on key regions including Taif and Yanbu. The Saudi-led coalition supporting the government of Yemen said the Houthis had been escalating their attacks since July, when renewed hostilities shattered a years-long truce.
The attacks targeted major oil storage and refining facilities at Yanbu, which is also home to the kingdom's primary crude export terminal on the Red Sea. France has vowed to send military assets, including soldiers, radars, and defense systems, to help shield the site from future Houthi attacks.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denied that Tehran was directing Houthi battle plans, saying 'The Houthis are responsible for their own actions. They don't take directions from us as those who are resisting in the region.'
