Saudi Arabia Intercepts Missile as Iran Proposes Deal on Strait of Hormuz

Saudi Arabia's military spokesperson claimed early Saturday that a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen was intercepted and destroyed. The missile, fired toward the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait, is the second such incident in recent days.

The United States has been engaged in indirect talks with Iran, which proposed a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US meets certain conditions. This includes lifting its naval blockade of Iranian ports and waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian departed New York for Tehran after the annual U.N. gathering of world leaders.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers have intensified efforts to seize natural springs and heritage sites in the occupied West Bank. The struggle for water access highlights the ongoing contest for control of the West Bank, where Palestinians have faced shortages since 1967.
