Saudi Exports Diverted to Sidi Kerir Amid Bab El-Mandeb Disruptions
Crude loadings at Egypt's Sidi Kerir are set to reach their highest level in six years due to Saudi Arabia diverting exports. This significant increase is partly a result of disruptions in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical waterway for oil shipments between Europe and Asia.
The Strait has seen a decline in transits as the Houthi threat continues to loom large. A 25% decrease in crude loadings at Saudi Arabia's Yanbu terminal last week added to the concern. The Houthis have completed preparations to target tankers, leading to increased caution among ship operators.
The situation highlights the vulnerability of global oil supply chains and underscores the need for effective security measures. As tensions persist, it remains to be seen how this development will impact the market in the long run.
