Saudi Arabia's coalition forces launched airstrikes against Houthi militia in Yemen on Saturday, targeting what they described as 'legitimate military targets' that threatened commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The strikes came after the Iran-backed Houthi group claimed to have attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea earlier in the week, with air defenses in Saudi Arabia reportedly intercepting two ballistic missiles from Yemen on Saturday targeting oil refineries in Yanbu.

Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, said the Houthis had carried out a 'reckless and cowardly act' by targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
