Saudi-led coalition strikes 324 Houthi targets in Yemen offensive
The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced a major military operation on Monday, targeting over 300 high-value Houthi sites. Spokesperson Turki al-Maliki stated on X that 100 fighter jets participated in Operation Dawn of Yemen, destroying 324 key targets and securing the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The offensive aims to retake the capital Sanaa from Houthi control, following an announcement by Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi.
Earlier the same day, Yemen’s army reported conducting 1,122 precise strikes against Houthi positions, killing 1,747 militants and disabling 364 vehicles. Major General Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili detailed the operations on X, highlighting attacks on artillery, supply lines, and command centers.
Tensions have escalated as Iran-backed Houthi rebels intensified attacks on Saudi infrastructure, including oil and military sites in Jazan and Riyadh. The Houthis have also imposed a maritime blockade on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea, threatening Riyadh's oil exports. This blockade follows allegations that Saudi Arabia bombed Sanaa International Airport, preventing an Iranian plane from landing in mid-July.
