Saudis Reroute Crude Through Hormuz Amid Pipeline Outage
Saudi Arabia has increased its crude oil exports to 6 million barrels per day (bpd) in September, matching its monthly average for 2025. This is nearly 80% above the 3.4 million bpd shipped in August, according to trade intelligence firm Kpler.
The increase came after Saudi Arabia closed its East-West oil pipeline due to damage from a drone attack launched from Iraq and amid escalating fighting with Iran-backed militants.
The US military has carved out a shipping lane along Oman's coast, allowing the Saudis to reroute their crude through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil exports through this route reached 13.2 million bpd on Wednesday, according to Kpler.
